Ethnomedicinal and biological activities of tropical mahua (Madhuca species) – A comprehensive review

The genus Madhuca, of the family Sapotaceae is a multi-functional tropical tree with species, Madhuca indica (latifolia), M. longifolia, and butyracea being most prevalent. nutritional health benefits mahua are due to richness its anti-oxidant, vitamin, mineral, biochemical composition. Mahua plant (flowers, fruits, roots, bark, seeds, leaves) extracts have variety bioactivities ethnomedicinal applications (antidiabetic, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, etc.). They traditionally well-known for their ability prevent/treat various ailments. phytochemical constituents defense mechanism therapeutic role in treatment disease. spp. has built linkage between ethnic people, traditional knowledge, livelihood support resources. This study/literature review been undertaken investigate as forest resource that can be used building resilience among communities. gives an extensive overview scientifically evaluated extract bioactive molecules possible potential treating diseases. Further, analyses opportunities scope future openings development health-giving properties/abilities extensively summarized.
